Rangers should really be in the market for another striker to compete with 15-goal Alfredo Morelos, as only Kyle Lafferty and, to an extent, Umar Sadiq, are providing the Colombian with any sort of competition.
What’s the word, then?
Well, it is no secret that Steven Gerrard is in the market for another forward as he expects his side to battle on three fronts this season – in the Scottish Premiership, Scottish Cup and the Europa League.
It goes without saying that 22-year-old Morelos is the star man and is doing an amazing job up top for the Gers, with nine goals in his last 10 league games. However, the aforementioned Sadiq is yet to score this term, whilst Lafferty has just four goals – attacking depth is needed if Gerrard is to make his first season in management a special one.
Additionally, even Morelos cannot be relied on completely at the moment. The youngster’s provocative style of play, in which he draws a lot of fouls and winds up a lot of opponents, may see him either injured or sent off in the near future, which would require another striker that Gerrard can depend on.
Who should they get in?
A player who is currently in fantastic form is Gillingham star Tom Eaves. The Englishman has 13 goals and three assists already this season in just 19 starts for the League One side, and is the joint-top scorer in England’s third tier alongside Ian Henderson.

Eaves is a traditional number 9 who specialises in scoring his his head, as his dominating 6′ 5″ frame obviously helps him aerially against desperate defenders attempting to mark him.
A key feature of his play, alongside his aerial prowess, is his excellent hold-up play and his ability to bring others into play, whilst he remains a confident, consistent finisher in front of goal – he notched 18 goals last campaign and is just five off that tally already.
